The CHOOFAS Story
After years of trial and error emulating the flavours and tastes of smoked meats savoured on his many business trips to the US, Scott believed he had developed his unique Dark Dry Rub and Sauces to a stage where they would readily appeal to the discerning Australian palate.
Scott designed a commercial size smoker which would give him not only the capacity but the infinite temperature and smoke control required to ensure the continuity of flavours and tenderness for his beef, pork and chicken and in November 2015 Scott and his wife Judy opened CHOOFAS SMOKEHOUSE & BBQ at Tweed Heads.
Wanting to combine Scott’s passion for fishing, the freshest seafood and his love of American Style BBQ Meats, CHOOFAS SMOKEHOUSE & SEAFOOD 120 Marine Parade, Coolangatta was opened in June 2016. Bringing a totally new alfresco dining experience to the beachfront, CHOOFAS has the capacity to seat up to sixty guests and offers great views of the Gold Coast and offers all meals Takeaway.
The much smaller Tweed Heads takeaway shop was subsequently closed.
With the business expanding, on the 20th September 2019 CHOOFAS SMOKEHOUSE & SEAFOOD Restaurant was opened at 150 Griffith Street (just around the corner). The Griffith Street venue offers all weather dining and table service and has the capacity to seat up to 140 guests. Private areas are available for functions and parties.
